Google's Walking Directions - Absolutely Hilarious!!
But then it is in Beta!!
Now consider these 2 cities. Detroit, Michigan and Windsor, Ontario which is across the Detroit River. The Drive time is 8 mins (2 miles). How about trying out the new feature in Google Maps "Walking Directions". Google Maps "Walking Directions" to Windsor, Ontario from Detroit, MI will take you 1 day and 15 hours (120 miles). Click on the image below to see how this happens: (more on walking directions at Google LatLong Blog)

Google's directions are correct. That is the best way to way between the two cities. The sad part is Detroit and Windsor do not have a non-motorized connection (by biking or walking.) Windsor Transit does provide cross-border bus service, but does not carry assembled bikes.
If you want to voice your support for better non-motorized connections across this border, visit http://www.semcog.org/Long-RangeTransportationPlan.aspx
I am not saying that it is wrong. I just had a good laugh on the suggestion that I walk 120 miles.
What I am expecting will happen here is Google Maps will direct you to a nearby Tunnel bus stop, ask you to hop on the bus and then continue walking on the other side.
(It's still in beta so its alright)
Having done that drive a few times, that's a pretty good alternative...
