I-35W Bridge collapses into Mississippi River in Minneapolis

The entire span of the 35W Bridge collapsed about 6:05 p.m. where the freeway crosses the river near University Avenue. Traffic in both directions was affected.Google Maps View of the Bridge location in Minneapolis.
There about 100,000 cars a day traveling over this bridge according to MnDOT and it is believed there were at least 50 cars on the bridge when it collapsed.

A vendor at my boyfriend's grocery store told him that he was on the bridge 3 hours before it collapsed. He said he noticed the bridge was dipping in a certain place and reported it to the authorities. Apparently no one checked it out. Sucks.
