Rosa Parks arrested on this day in 1955

Rosa Parks was arrested on December 1st, 1955 in Montgomery, Alabama (map) for refusing to give up her bus seat to a white passenger. This incident started the Montgomery Bus Boycott which ended on December 21st 1956 after the Supreme Court ruled that Alabama's racial segregation laws for buses was unconstitutional.
