National Calamity declared in Philippines

In wake of the devastating typhoon "Durian" which struck Philippines, the Philippines president Gloria Macapagal Arroyo has declared a state of "National Calamity" in Philippines.

Typhoon Durian was the 4th major storm to hit philippines in just 4 months. It is estimated that more than 1000 people might have perished in the mudslides triggered by typhoon Durian.
