India Day 2006 News in Observer and Eccentric

Pam Fleming states that "This year's celebration is expected to be one of the largest to date, with about 20,000 expected to attend. The event runs from about 9 a.m.-8 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 20".
Balaji Joshi secretary of the Organizing committee states that India Day 2006 is "like the Fourth of July for India," noting that India and the U.S. are the largest democratic counties in the world.
