Killer Whale attacks Sea World Trainer

Kasatka - A Killer Whale attacks the trainer at Sea World in San Diego, CA. The whale drags the trainer down under water and holds him there for about a minute. According to CNN
Other trainers were able to persuade the whale to surface, allowing the trainer a breath of air, but enacted emergency procedures in place for such instances.

The other trainers got a net in the pool, and the trainer, who also has years of experience, was able to calm the whale, swim to the other side of the net and get out of the pool.

Maybe this will get North Korea's attention. According to CNN

Peace on Earth - Not in this Colorado Sub Division

A Home Owner's Association in Pagosa Springs, Colorado has threatened a resident of the sub division with $25.00 a day fine for putting up a Christmas Wreath with "PEACE ON EARTH" sign. The sign according to some is an anti-Iraq war protest or a symbol of Satan.

According to CNN
Lisa Jensen said she wasn't thinking of the war when she hung the wreath. She said, "Peace is way bigger than not being at war. This is a spiritual thing."

Jensen, a past association president, calculates the fines will cost her about $1,000, and doubts they will be able to make her pay. But she said she's not going to take it down until after Christmas.

"Now that it has come to this I feel I can't get bullied," she said. "What if they don't like my Santa Claus?"
(Update: The Homeowner's Association has backed off from their threat of $25.00/day fine. PEACE ON EARTH retuns to PAGOSA SPRINGS)

Groom Shot Dead by NYPD on his wedding day

Sean Bell (23 years old) is shot dead by NYPD on his wedding day outside the Kalua Cabaret Club in the Jamaica Section of Queens, New York. According to news reports:
At a news conference Saturday, Kelly said the department was still piecing together what happened, and that it was too early to say whether the shooting was justified.

The car, driven by Sean Bell, was struck by 21 of the police bullets after the vehicle rammed an undercover officer and hit an unmarked NYPD minivan. Other shots hit nearby homes and shattered windows at a train station, though no one else was injured.

Police thought one of the men in the car might have had a gun but investigators found no weapons. It was unclear what prompted police to open fire, Kelly said. It was also not clear whether the shooters had identified themselves as police, Kelly said.

Nevada Town bans foreign flags

Pahrump, Nevada bans display of foreign flags.

According to CNN:
The town council voted last week, 3-2, to approve an ordinance that makes it illegal to display a foreign flag -- unless an American flag is flown above it.

Pahrump resident Michael Miraglia proposed the ban because, he said, he got upset when he saw immigrant activists marching through U.S. cities last spring, waving Mexican flags. Mr. Miraglia told USA Today that he was especially miffed that "we had Mexican restaurants closed that day."

So that's what started all this -- the fact that some guy couldn't get his burrito fix...
