SR Movies, Novi, MI - 1st Indian owned Movie Theater in Michigan

Some of you might know this already, but for those who do not know - we have here in the Detroit Area - SR Movies, a Indian owned Movie Theater which screens the latest Bollywood Hindi Movies and also Telugu,Tamil Movies.
There's a added bonus - to make you feel at home, besides popcorn, they do serve desi masala chai, samosa, Thums UP!, Limca.
I was curious as to what SR in "SR Movies" stands for. Thanks to Alok Manchanda of mimantra for providing me with this info. S stands for Sonali and R stands for Rakesh. It is owned and operated by the Wife and Husband Team of Sonali and Rakesh Gangwani. Good Luck and Best Wishes to them.

Awsome Taj Mahal in High Resolution on Google Maps

Google has updated their satellite imagery for a lot more areas than before, this includes India (via).

As soon as I found out about this major update, I started looking for places where I grew up. Here are a few places I found. I will soon add more. You can look at these satellite images at http://www.mibazaar.com/maps where you can zoom in and out of these locations.

The Incredible Abhijeet Sawant

The Promo states "Himesh Reshammiya is going to be live in concert" here in Ann Arbor, Michigan on Friday August 18th.
But the incredible Abhijeet Sawant is also going be on stage.

Abhijeet Sawant the first Indian Idol, is truly an inspiration to the youth in our community. His rags to riches story gives the youth in our community a right to dream. I do plan to take my 15 year old son to this live event.

Destination Germany - World Cup Soccer

The 4 year wait for the soccer fans around the world is over. The World Cup Soccer tournament begins in Germany today. Check out the latest team news and team blogs at mibazaar.

Even though I would like to see United States win, it is a very difficult task. I would have to go with 5 times world champs - Brazil. This team is packed with super stars, strong bench and as AP puts it "Brazil is so loaded with talent that it could probably field the best two teams in the World Cup"

A Brand New Vegetarian Restaurant in Michigan

Ganesh Bhavan a brand new South Indian (100%) Vegetarian Restaurant has opened in the Detroit Area. I did not go in to eat, I just picked up the menu from near the entrance to the restaurant. What caught my eye is some of the items in the menu. There's "Kids Corner" section in the menu which lists:
1.Ghee Idly (Cocktail Idly served with Ghee & KETCHUP!!) - Ketchup, yes my daughter will love this.
2.Butter Cone Dosa.
3.Pizza Uthappam.

Going thru the menu I found this interesting item:
-Gun Powder Masala Dosa (I am assuming this must be a real spicy Dosa?)

Anyway, I plan to check Ganesh Bhavan out this weekend.
